Know the cap before you swap gear
Hunter ranged attacks need 9% hit against level 73 raid bosses. Draenei Heroic Presence can reduce the personal requirement by 1%. Do not gem past the cap.
Best Gems & Enchants
These are strong Phase 3 defaults. Socket bonuses and cap requirements can make a hybrid gem better than a pure throughput gem.

Black Temple and Hyjal loot is contested. A strong gearing plan needs more than one path.
Cap first, then throughput
Hit/expertise shortfalls can make an older item better than a flashy T6 drop.
Weapon upgrades are premium
