Know the cap before you swap gear
Special attacks need 9% hit against raid bosses; Precision supplies up to 5%, while white dual-wield attacks have a much higher miss cap. Expertise is also extremely valuable from behind, with 26 expertise removing boss dodges.
Best Gems & Enchants
These are strong Phase 3 defaults. Socket bonuses and cap requirements can make a hybrid gem better than a pure throughput gem.

Black Temple and Hyjal loot is contested. A strong gearing plan needs more than one path.
Cap first, then throughput
Hit/expertise shortfalls can make an older item better than a flashy T6 drop.
Weapon upgrades are premium
For physical DPS, weapon DPS and weapon speed often matter more than a small stat upgrade elsewhere.
