TBC Classic Engineering Guide 1–375
Engineering offers bombs, grenades, goggles, utility devices and niche raid tools. It is less about a single static stat bonus and more about access to unique gadgets and encounter utility.
Engineering 1–375 skill bands
Material prices vary by realm, so this route uses flexible skill bands instead of pretending one shopping list is always cheapest.
Build basic blasting powder, bolts and low-level devices from Copper Bars and Rough Stone.
Bronze, Medium Leather and Coarse Stone support dynamite, target dummies and mechanical components.
Iron, Mithril and Heavy/Solid Stone become the core materials; save intermediate components because later crafts reuse them.
Thorium devices, dense blasting powder and higher components finish Classic Engineering.
Fel Iron Casings, Handfuls of Fel Iron Bolts and Elemental Blasting Powder open the Outland range.
Adamantite Frame and other component-heavy recipes are common skill-up choices. Build parts before finished devices when both grant skill.
Late skill points usually involve Khorium/Adamantite devices, goggles or specialized schematics. Compare material cost before pushing the final green recipes.
Recipes turn yellow/green at different skill levels and skill-ups are not guaranteed. Buy a buffer of materials and compare Auction House prices before committing to the most expensive final crafts.
Why Engineering matters in Phase 3
- Engineering utility can solve niche raid problems through bombs, grenades and specialized devices.
- Epic engineering goggles are a meaningful gearing option for some specs depending on phase availability and slot competition.
- Mining dramatically reduces leveling cost because both ore and stone are consumed throughout the profession.
Best pairing: Mining
The pairing is a practical default, not a rule. Serious raiders sometimes choose two crafting professions for character power and fund materials through alts or the Auction House.
Engineering questions
Goblin or Gnomish Engineering?
Both provide different gadgets. For raiding, choose based on the devices you actually plan to use rather than assuming one specialization is mandatory for every class.
Is Engineering mandatory for PvE?
No. It is valuable utility, but profession choice should be compared with your class gearing plan and guild requirements.
