Epic gem cuts, prospecting, jewelry and Jewelcrafter-only gems make Jewelcrafting one of the most gear-focused TBC professions. Phase 3 adds a major new market through raid epic gems and Scale of the Sands designs.

Leveling Route

Jewelcrafting 1–375 skill bands

Material prices vary by realm, so this route uses flexible skill bands instead of pretending one shopping list is always cheapest.

1–300

Level through Classic jewelry, settings, statues and gem crafts. Keep useful intermediate components instead of vendoring everything immediately.

300–325

Use inexpensive Outland green gem cuts and trainer recipes; choose the raw gems that are cheapest on your realm.

325–350

Move into better cuts and jewelry as recipes become available. Reputation recipes can be cheaper than forcing one expensive craft.

350–365

Rare cuts and Jewelcrafter-only epic gems become strong skill-up options if you have the designs.

365–375

Meta gem designs are a common final route. Recipe access and raw diamond prices determine the cheapest path.

Recipes turn yellow/green at different skill levels and skill-ups are not guaranteed. Buy a buffer of materials and compare Auction House prices before committing to the most expensive final crafts.

Black Temple & Hyjal

Why Jewelcrafting matters in Phase 3

  • Uncut epic gems enter through Hyjal Ancient Gem Veins and Black Temple trash.
  • The Scale of the Sands reputation unlocks epic cut designs sold by Indormi.
  • Jewelcrafter-only epic gems remain a personal profession advantage, while Phase 3 BoE epic cuts improve gems available to everyone.
Planning

Best pairing: Mining

The pairing is a practical default, not a rule. Serious raiders sometimes choose two crafting professions for character power and fund materials through alts or the Auction House.

FAQ

Jewelcrafting questions

Is Mining required?

No, but Mining is the natural pairing because Prospecting and leveling consume large amounts of ore and gems.

Why is Jewelcrafting stronger in Phase 3?

The raid tier introduces a new family of epic gems and reputation-gated epic cuts, increasing both personal gearing value and demand for gem cutters.
