TBC Classic Tailoring Guide 1–375
Tailoring creates cloth armor, bags, spellthreads and three specialty cloth families. It is especially relevant to cloth casters and healers, although the value of early crafted sets changes as Phase 3 raid gear arrives.
Tailoring 1–375 skill bands
Material prices vary by realm, so this route uses flexible skill bands instead of pretending one shopping list is always cheapest.
Progress through Linen, Wool, Silk, Mageweave and Runecloth crafts. Bags and bolts can reduce wasted materials.
Netherweave Bolts and early Netherweave armor begin the Outland range.
Bolts of Imbued Netherweave and efficient Netherweave crafts bridge the middle levels.
Bags or Imbued Netherweave pieces can be practical depending on your realm economy.
Specialty cloth, specialization recipes and higher-end Imbued Netherweave crafts provide multiple routes; compare cloth cooldown value before using expensive materials only for skill points.
Recipes turn yellow/green at different skill levels and skill-ups are not guaranteed. Buy a buffer of materials and compare Auction House prices before committing to the most expensive final crafts.
Why Tailoring matters in Phase 3
- Spellcloth, Shadowcloth and Primal Mooncloth have separate specialty identities and cooldown economics.
- Spellfire, Frozen Shadoweave and Primal Mooncloth sets are no longer automatically permanent BiS once Tier 6 gear is available—compare your actual spec list.
- Spellthreads remain a useful crafted enhancement market even when you replace early tailoring armor.
Best pairing: Enchanting
The pairing is a practical default, not a rule. Serious raiders sometimes choose two crafting professions for character power and fund materials through alts or the Auction House.
Tailoring questions
Which specialization should I choose?
Spellfire generally aligns with fire/arcane caster goals, Shadoweave with shadow/frost themes, and Mooncloth with healing. At Phase 3, choose based on your remaining crafted needs and cloth economy rather than blindly following an early-phase list.
Do specialty cloth cooldowns share one cooldown?
The three specialty cloth crafts have their own production rules; specialization increases output for its matching cloth.
