TBC Classic Alchemy Guide 1–375
Alchemy turns herbs into raid consumables, elixirs, flasks, potions and transmuted materials. It remains one of the most practical Phase 3 professions because every Black Temple and Hyjal progression night consumes repeatable supplies.
Alchemy 1–375 skill bands
Material prices vary by realm, so this route uses flexible skill bands instead of pretending one shopping list is always cheapest.
Start with inexpensive low-level healing and utility potions using Peacebloom, Silverleaf and other starter herbs.
Move through Briarthorn, Bruiseweed, Stranglekelp and Kingsblood recipes; choose whichever orange/yellow potion has the best herb price on your realm.
Use mid-level potions and elixirs based on Goldthorn, Khadgar’s Whisker and related herbs, training the next rank before you hit the cap.
Finish the Classic range with Sungrass, Blindweed, Dreamfoil and high-level potion/elixir recipes.
In Outland, use Felweed-based potions and early Master recipes. Healing and mana potions are usually easy materials to source.
Shift into Terocone, Dreaming Glory, Ragveil and other Outland herbs; compare elixirs and potions instead of forcing one costly recipe.
Use higher-end elixirs, flasks or discovered recipes. The cheapest final path depends heavily on herb and Primal prices.
Recipes turn yellow/green at different skill levels and skill-ups are not guaranteed. Buy a buffer of materials and compare Auction House prices before committing to the most expensive final crafts.
Why Alchemy matters in Phase 3
- Flasks, elixirs and combat potions are consumed continuously during Black Temple and Hyjal progression.
- Potion, Elixir and Transmutation specializations can change the economic value of the profession; pick one that matches how you actually craft.
- Alchemy pairs naturally with Herbalism, but raid-focused mains can also buy herbs and keep a second crafting profession if character power is the priority.
Best pairing: Herbalism
The pairing is a practical default, not a rule. Serious raiders sometimes choose two crafting professions for character power and fund materials through alts or the Auction House.
Alchemy questions
What is the best Alchemy specialization?
There is no universal answer. Potion Master favors heavy potion production, Elixir Master favors elixirs and flasks, and Transmutation Master is primarily an economy choice.
Do I need Herbalism?
No. Herbalism makes self-supply easier, but many raiders buy herbs from the Auction House so they can keep another crafting profession.
